GFCI Replacements

GFCI Outlet

There is a special type of outlet called a GFCI or ground fault circuit interrupt that is designed to be used in areas that are around water like kitchens, baths or even outdoors.

These outlets will actually shut off before you can get shocked or electrocuted. The way it works is, when it detects an increase in the current, it shuts the power off in a 40th of a second. Many local codes require these if you do a remodel or build a new home. So you might want to consider going ahead and putting these in where your existing outlets are.

Replacement
If you've ever replaced an outlet, you can probably replace one of these. Just make sure that you read the directions very carefully. But if you have any questions or run into any problems at all, make sure that you consult a licensed electrician.
